JPPI: There are 6 modes Violence in Schools At the end of 2016 is popping up in the tragedy of child abuse schools in various regions in Indonesia. Student stabbed his friend to death (Bantul, Yogyakarta), the brutally struck out eight elementary school students in class V and class VI Elementary School (East Nusa Tenggara), teachers mistreat students’ eyes with a pen (Gowa, South Sulawesi), parents persecute teachers until dripping blood ( Makassar, South Sulawesi), elementary students brawl involving three school (Semarang), and many others.

Education Monitoring Network Indonesia has asked the government to be more responsive to the acts of violence in schools.

According to a press release received JPPI violent trend and modus-modus increasingly diverse. Based on their observation, there are at least six major mode of violence that continues to recur in the school environment: the persecution of teacher to student, student to teacher persecution, persecution student to student, ill parents to teachers, sexual harassment, and brawl between schools.

This fact justifies a previous study conducted by Plan International and the International Center for Research on Women which was released in 2015. This data shows the astonishing facts related to violence against children in schools. There are 84 percent of children in Indonesia have experienced violence in school. The figure was higher than the trend in the region of 70 percent. In fact, based on the calculation of the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI), there are at least 1800 children victims of violence each year in Indonesia.

If the government is not serious, these problems will spread to other problems. JPPI hope the government is serious about establishing a legal instrument in the form of a number of laws that protect children from violence. Such as Law No. 35 of 2014 on Child Protection, Presidential Instruction Number 5 of 2014 concerning the National Movement Anti-Sexual crimes against children, and Law No. 11 of 2012 on the Criminal Justice System Child.

JPPI regard, the law is still hit a variety of obstacles such as a lack of commitment of the government and school authorities. This application is not optimal to make children in Indonesia have not been fully protected and are exposed to the threat of child abuse in educational environments.
